Begin the day with a short visit to a local fruit market with your knowledgeable Balinese guide who will introduce you to the exotic fruits of the region, where you will have the chance to sample some treats.
As you set foot on the trek, you will find a magnificent Balinese temple that serves as a spiritual anchor for the community’s rituals and ceremonies, paying homage to ancestors and underworld deities. This temple is located just next to a cemetery symbolizing the Balinese Hindu belief in the cyclical nature of life and death. Your guide will explain you the history of this sacred site, feeling the pulse of centuries-old traditions echoing through its halls.
Get ready to start your 1h trek through the lush rice fields and immerse yourself in their natural splendour. Along the way, your guide will be unveiling some insights and curiosities about the plants and flowers along your path.
At the beginning of the route, you will stop at a small local distillery, where you will step into the fascinating world of coconut wine production, also known as “tuak”. This sweet, mildly alcoholic drink holds a special place in the Balinese culture, often enjoyed during festive occasions and ceremonies. And of course, no visit would be complete without a taste of this local delicacy.
During your trek, you will also see and learn about the Subak system, a traditional irrigation system used in Bali for rice cultivation. Water is considered sacred in the Balinese culture, and the Subak system is believed to be governed by spiritual forces that ensure the prosperity and harmony of the community. In 2012, the Subak system in Bali was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its cultural significance and its sustainable agricultural practices, which have sustained rice cultivation on the island for over a thousand years.
Time for a short break at a tranquil Balinese gazebo, where you will enjoy a refreshing coconut with views to the beautiful rice paddies and the majestic Mount Agung in the background. Participate in a short hands-on kite-making workshop and, once your masterpiece is complete, you can take it to the open fields to experience the joy of flying your own kite.
The last part of the trek will take you to a local Dance School founded by Pak Jero, a multifaceted artist and guardian of Balinese traditions who not only teaches dance lessons to students in his community, but he is also a master shadow puppeteer and an esteemed Balinese priest. Share your lunch with Pak Jero and enjoy local Balinese cuisine next to a beautiful tableau adorned with local crafts and surrounded by the family temples.
After lunch, he will guide you through the history and cultural significance of Gamelan music, which is deeply rooted in the Balinese religious and ceremonial life. You will also have the opportunity to learn how to play this intricate and mesmerizing music.
Last but not least, engage in the graceful rhythms of Balinese dance under his expert tutelage to learn some steps, from the delicate hand gestures to the dynamic footwork. While you practice, you will be joined by aspiring dancers from his school for their daily class and together you will partake in a vibrant celebration of Balinese dance, creating a deeper appreciation for this beautiful art form.
The last stop today is Ubud Monkey Forest, a lush nature reserve and temple complex on the outskirts of Ubud. The forest is home to more than one hundred species of trees, several interesting temples, and hundreds of crab-eating macaque monkeys (*).

Drive through the forest, splash across rivers, navigate through mysterious caves and embrace your inner child as you tackle the muddy circuit. Take a shower after the activity and get ready for lunch.

Make a quick stop to enjoy the panoramic vistas of the famous rice terraces and take the opportunity to capture some good shots of this iconic landscape. These rice fields are famous for their stunning beauty and their unique irrigation system, a testament to centuries of expertise passed down through generations of local farmers. Carved right into the hillsides, these terraces create an incredible landscape of flowing rice fields that seem to go on forever.
Only a short drive away, you will be arriving to Ulu Petanu Waterfall, a hidden gem where you will have the chance to refresh your senses with a rejuvenating swim in the waterfall’s pool. Since Ulu Petanu Waterfall is not as popular as some of the other waterfalls in Bali, it still offers a refreshing atmosphere to swim in a more serene setting. The trekking path to the main waterfall is a convenient and accessible 5-minute walk through the forest, making it easy for most visitors to reach. For those feeling adventurous, the trek can be extended to a second waterfall. This path, however, is steeper and can be quite slippery. Afterwards, return to your island accommodation.

Following to breakfast this morning, get ready to check out from your hotel to then transfer to the next hotel in Nusa Dua.
Before reaching Nusa Dua, make a stop in Saba Beach Gianyar. Each year from April to October, the black-sanded Saba Beach in East Bali becomes a nesting habitat for sea turtles. Pregnant turtles return to the beaches where they themselves hatched years before, searching for a nesting spot above the high-water mark. After using her back flippers to dig a nest in the sand, the reptile will lay up to 100 eggs, which incubate in the warm sand for about 2 months.
During this time, feral dogs, monitor lizards and human predation of turtle eggs, fishing accidents and beach erosion can become major threats to sea turtles in this area. Saba Asri continuously does egg-rescue and beach cleaning to provide a safe hatching facility and treatment for injured turtles. The self-funded conservation centre is operated by local fishermen who care about sustaining the existence of these endangered marine reptiles.
We invite you to visit this simple facility for a volunteering activity to support the local conservation efforts and get a first-hand experience of working with sea turtles. After an introduction and briefing about the life of sea turtles, get ready and be involved in preparing turtle food, feeding turtles, cleaning their tanks and the beach or assist in research, monitoring and record keeping.
Once your work is completed, you will be rewarded with the unique opportunity of releasing the hatchlings safely into the ocean. A certificate will be provided as appreciation for your valuable efforts to give sea turtles a better chance of survival.

In the afternoon around 2.30pm, Travel to the southern-most tip of Bali to visit the famous Uluwatu Temple (*). One of seven sea temples that are said to form a ‘chain’ around the island, it is undoubtedly one of the region’s most venerable places of worship.
