Upon arrival, register at the Rinjani Information Centre (RIC) in Sembalun Lawang, where you will meet your mountain guide and porters before beginning the trek.

The trek starts with a gentle ascent through open grasslands to Camp Pemantauan (1,300 m), where you can rest and enjoy views of Mt. Rinjani’s summit.

Continue onward to Camp Tengengean (1,500 m), about a 1-hour walk, then another 1.5-hour hike brings you to Camp Pada Balong (1,800 m). You’ll stop here around 1:00 PM for lunch and a rest.

After lunch, the trek continues with a 3.5-hour climb to Sembalun Crater Rim (2,639 m). This section passes through pine-like Casuarina trees, locally known as cemara. Along the way, you may see signs of wild pigs and long-tailed grey macaques.

Arrive at the campsite around 5:00 PM. Set up your tent and take in the stunning views from the crater rim. Dinner will be served at the campsite, where you’ll rest and prepare for an early start the next day to reach the summit.

Once at the summit, enjoy a deep sense of accomplishment and take in the breathtaking sunrise views stretching across the Wallace Line to Bali, Mt. Agung, and Sumbawa. You’ll spend about an hour at the top before descending back to the Sembalun Crater Rim campsite via the same trail.

After breakfast at camp, continue your descent to Segara Anak Lake (2,000 m), a steep trail that takes around 2–3 hours.

At the lake, relax and visit the nearby natural hot springs, which locals believe have healing properties. Meanwhile, your porters will prepare lunch.
